Ever heard the term Holiday Weight? Of course you have. But what is the difference between indulging a little bit during the holidays and indulging a little bit too much the rest of the year?
The reason that so many Americans end up turning to weight loss programs over and over again, while getting minimal or no results, is that while they truly desire change, and many of them are willing to literally give the blood, sweat and tears that seem to be necessary to attain their goals, the programs that they are turning to, lack one important ingredient…the Emotional Component.
In any addictive disorder there is an underlying negative belief or trauma that the addict is eating/drinking/using/gambling/sexing/shopping/working etc… to calm. People use these coping devices because they are trying to soothe or distract themselves from the underlying emotional pain that these negative beliefs and traumas cause. The tricky part is that this is happening on a sub-conscious level. No one wakes up in the morning and says, “Wow, my life is working so well and my health is great…I think I’ll screw it up.”
The very name of the disorder ‘Obsessive, Compulsive Disorder’ tells you that it is something that one is compulsed to do in an obsessive way. And the reason that one is compulsed to do it is to ease the emotional pain that results from either a traumatic experience, a limiting belief, or a non-productive behavior pattern.
It is my strong contention that until the subconscious emotional components are dealt with, you can have every advantage at your disposal and still the weight issues will persist. Look at Oprah, the perfect chefs, the ultimate trainers, everything money can buy and still the weight difficulties keep finding a way to rear their ugly heads.
Quantum Physics has taught us that everything is energy, vibrating at different frequencies. Your thoughts, your skin, your hair, the table in front of you, and even your cell phone are all made up of electromagnetic energy. Everything that we do and are is energy. And the bottom line is that for a wide variety of reasons the overweight person has internalized a plethora of energy frequencies that say things like “I’m not safe.” “I’m not worthy of good things.” “I’m not lovable.” “I’m not enough.” “I don’t deserve good treatment.” “I’m not worthy of respect.” etc… And until these frequencies are neutralized or eliminated, all of the other components of the weight loss program won’t be able to potentiate maximum results. I have seen it time and time again.
We sometimes refer to it as ‘sabotaging ourselves.’ But please…who really wants to sabotage something that will make their life better. NO ONE! At least not on a conscious level, but the deal is that if we don’t find a way to neutralize the negative frequencies they will permeate the subconscious mind and the subconscious mind always wins. Most weight loss programs are based on choices and behaviors that the conscious mind must make but the conscious mind doesn’t have a chance when weighed against the sub-conscious. The Conscious mind fires at one bit per second. The Sub-conscious mind fires at one million bits per second! It’s clearly the Goliath in this duo.
Another problematic issue can be pleasant associations that the Sub-conscious has made with food or eating behaviors. For example, if in childhood there was a period when you were being ridiculed by the school kids and when you came home complaining to your mother about the day, her solution was to give you cookies and milk and talk to you, your sub-conscious might have made the assumption that sweets are associated with being comforted and nurtured. This can create a powerful drive to eat sweets whenever life feels threatening or stressful.
If we are to make significant progress with any program of change, we have to shift the focus/frequencies of the Sub-conscious.
Okay, so how do we do this? My favorite tools are those of Energy Psychology and Energy Medicine. These tools enlist the cooperation of the human energy system (where these frequencies are stored). They enable us to hunt out and neutralize these rogue frequencies. Methods such as EFT, TFT, TAT, my proprietary CHART and many others work to do just that. These tools are relatively new in comparison to traditional work and not as well known but the results speak for themselves.
Years of PTSD have been healed in 6 sessions, phobias and addictive behaviors have been changed in a very short period of time. Why? Because when you eliminate the pain that the person was drinking or eating or using over in the first place, the need to do the behavior falls away with minimal effort and strain.
This is the exact opposite of ‘white knuckling it’. This is change that comes with ease and lasts. With the constraints of this article, I can’t go into too much more detail about these methods but let me just say that it is no longer necessary to spend 20 years on the couch. We are attaining significant results in 6 sessions or less. Of course it’s not the same for every person, but the results are in. Using these tools can totally transform your weight loss experience. I help people with these issues every day.
You would be amazed how few people have any idea why they are eating or what the underlying emotional pain is. Some of the more common sources of those problematic beliefs and traumas are sexual abuse, verbal abuse, natural disasters, accidents, negative messages about sexuality, and many more.
I ask our readers to look at your lives and find the hidden hurts. Once they are gone…so will be the weight.
